As Nani says, drink haldi (hindi for turmeric) milk. Turmeric has antiseptic properties and helps in recovery from common cold. The recipe is to add a pinch of turmeric power to cup of milk. Heat it to almost boiling point. Add sugar to taste. It helps to make it sweeter for kids as the smell of turmeric might bother them. Adding a couple of crushed almonds to milk also helps. We have noticed that organic turmeric powder has more impact than regular one; even better if you can grind turmeric roots at home to get the powder. Well that’s what my mother did back at home in India.
When to consume – Time of consumption is important to have the maximum impact. It is recommended to drink turmeric-milk just before going to bed at night. Also drink the milk as warm as possible.
You should be able to notice the reduced impact of cold next morning. Repeat for few nights depending on how long the cold persists.
